Certify Goes Back-to-Back with Impressive Ipswich Victory

Certify continued his strong upward trajectory with an impressive win in Race 4 at Ipswich, stepping up in both grade and distance to make it two victories from his past two starts under a confident ride from Jag Guthmann-Chester.

Despite presenting a touch big in condition following the gap between runs, Certify executed the race plan to perfection from the outset. Beginning cleanly, he was able to find the ideal position in running, settling in behind the anticipated leader and enjoying a smooth run throughout the early and middle stages.

With a genuine tempo set up front, Certify travelled strongly and always looked to have plenty in hand as the field approached the home turn. Upon straightening, Jag was forced to take the inside run, but the colt responded sharply - quickening well to take control of the race and putting it beyond doubt, with something still left in reserve late.

It was a performance full of merit, particularly given the rise in class and the challenge of taking on older horses. As is often noted, it is no easy task to win a maiden and then return to win again at the next start in stronger company, making this result all the more encouraging.

There was clear improvement from his previous victory, and just as importantly, he gave every indication that stepping up further in distance will suit as his preparation progresses.

Certify is now building a very promising profile this preparation, and the focus will turn to his next outing, which is set to be his final lead-up run ahead of a potential Derby target, all going to plan.

Congratulations to his connections on another fantastic result — an exciting horse whose best looks to still be ahead of him.
