Desert Angel has rewarded our patience with a convincing victory at the Gold Coast Turf Club today, producing an impressive performance over 2200 metres under senior jockey Danny Peisley.
Presented in fantastic order, Desert Angel began well from the barriers before Danny executed the perfect ride, allowing her to settle and switch off throughout the first half of the race.
Travelling comfortably in the small field, she began to improve approaching the home turn. Danny found clear running at the top of the straight, where Desert Angel was travelling noticeably better than her rivals. Once balanced, she let down strongly and powered away from the opposition to secure a dominant victory.
It was an extremely satisfying result for our team, and a case of patience finally paying off. We have been waiting to see Desert Angel put everything together, and it was terrific to see her deliver such an emphatic performance.
While we acknowledge the field lacked some depth, Desert Angel could do no more than what she did today. She was fit, well prepared and presented with an excellent opportunity to break through, and she took full advantage.
Congratulations to all of Desert Angel’s connections on a well-deserved win!
